Members of the OffsiteDataSync team recently attended the VeeamON 2022 conference at the Aria in Las Vegas. If you are unfamiliar with VeeamON, it is Veeam’s annual user and partner conference that enables attendees to explore the latest Modern Data Protection trends and hear the just released Veeam backup solutions and product announcements. It’s a learning, business, and social extravaganza that includes networking opportunities and hands-on technical deep dives. For the first time ever, attendees were able to join both in-person and online. VeeamON is always an invaluable experience for anyone interested in improving their Data Protection strategy. With over 1,300 in-person and 13,000 virtual attendees, this year did not disappoint!

The Takeaways:

New & Exciting features of Veeam Backup & Replication v12

The team was able to gain insight into many new and exciting features like the preview of Veeam Backup & Replication v12. This expanded feature set will enable Veeam Cloud and Service Providers to support customers by providing modern data protection from ransomware and other likely disasters. The preview of v12 proved to be exciting as it included increased capabilities in cloud, security, and enterprise focus areas. As stated by Veeam, the new capabilities are as follows:

Direct to Object Storage Backup and Cloud Connect CDP

The new Direct to Object Storage backup and Cloud Connect CDP stood out as particularly exciting. According to OffsiteDataSync’s Solutions Architect Jonah May, these features will “allow our customers to minimize their RTPOs, complexity, and cost while increasing the security, redundancy, and performance of their data protection solutions”.

Products Developed with a Customer-Centric Perspective

The team identified a common theme among the new software features being premiered. With each it was a heavy focus on improved software efficiencies with the final customer outcome in mind. With this focus, it’s obvious that Veeam continues to improve the customer experience by refining and improving features, functions, and processes in order to ultimately improve the end result. This stood out as valuable to the team, and having advanced knowledge of these new features allows them to proactively support the advancements for customers. This Veeam alignment is key to providing customers with a seamless experience when leveraging v12’s new capabilities.

Partnership Building

As a Platinum Veeam Cloud Service Provider, we value our relationship with Veeam as much as we value our relationship with our customers. The team was thrilled with the many partnership meetings VeeamON presented. These encounters included a one-on-one strategy session that reinforced our strong partnership with both Veeam Representatives and their Executive teams. OffsiteDataSync’s CTO Nathan Anderson described an invite-only C-Suite event as “excellent partnership building discussions” with multiple Veeam leaders. This meeting included conversations centered around Veeam’s direction for the next year and reinforced how OffsiteDataSync’s go-to-market strategy continues to align with that direction. Following these conversations, our team left knowing the partnership with Veeam was stronger than ever.

Networking Opportunities

As each member recounted their highlights from the event the most common thread was the many opportunities to network with attendees, both customers, and other Veeam partners alike. Clinton Alexander, OffsiteDataSync’s Channel Partner Sales Manager, deemed the event as successful based specifically on the team’s ability to “reinforce our deep partnership with Veeam representatives and executives” during a one-on-one strategy session.

Veeam hosted energizing networking opportunities during conference hours as well as after-hours social events such as the private wrap party held at Drai’s nightclub. Here, we were able to meet in a cool atmosphere and party to performances by artists Coolio and Nelly. In typical Veeam fashion, the after-party did not disappoint and proved to be the perfect way to finish off VeeamON 2022 and already has us excited for theVeeamON 2023 – see you in Miami!
