In times like these, we are reminded of the importance of being prepared for a disaster. To help you plan for any disaster, we’ve included some FAQs here.
Q: Besides hurricanes, what else could be considered a disaster?
A: Disasters can include disk crashes, power failures, human error, and natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, tornados or earthquakes – all of which have the potential to stop the flow of data at one or more of your facilities.
Q: What should we do if we’re expecting a disaster like Hurricane Irma to come our way?
A: First, check your latest backup date/time to make sure that the restore point is as current as you expected. If you’re an OffsiteDataSync customer, you can contact your account executive or call 888-800-4380 to have it looked up.
In addition, you can have your DR plan tested and verified by clicking here, the minimum time for scheduling a DR test is 2 weeks.
The best practice is to test your DR plan periodically (annually, or semi-annually depending on your business needs). A free annual DR test is included in Gold and Diamond Tier. You can also add an individual DR test regardless your service Tier by clicking here.

A: There are a couple options for Failback with Veeam Cloud Connect Replication.
You can either access multiple servers in a remote environment or we can spin up a VPN connection for you in our remote environment:
Q: What about Veeam Cloud Connect Backup? Can we failover with Veeam Cloud Connect Backup?
A: We have the capability to do the same for Veeam Cloud Connect Backup, here’s how it works in an event of disaster:
- We spin up a virtual environment (CPU, RAM, Storage)
- Import your backups to that environment
- Same connection options available (Public IP, S2S or Client to Site VPN)
Note: You will have longer RTPO using Veeam Cloud Connect Backup than Veeam Cloud Connect Replication because:
- It takes time to provision resources
- It takes time to import data from backups

Q: How long can I expect to recover?
A: The recovery time depends on a number of factors such as the size of your repository, your environment, ISP speeds, etc. However, you can refer the following chart for Cloud Restore Initiation time (red highlight):
Best practice: If your organization is located in a high-risk area, Gold or Platinum Tier is strongly recommended for guaranteed Cloud Restore Initiation time. You can upgrade your Tier by contacting your account executive or call 888.800.4380.
