In a blog I posted this past January, I mentioned one of the reasons I enjoy tech so much is that it’s dynamic. Change comes quickly and there’s no resting on laurels, regardless of success. As Neil Young says, rust never sleeps, and that applies to business, too.

If you fail to advance and offerings don’t hold up, you’ll let customers down and fade into obsolescence.

That’s why it was so gratifying to learn we’ve again been named a Veeam® Innovation Award Winner (VIA). Last year we took home the honor for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365; a collaborative effort that also earned us “Best of Show” at Veeam Velocity. We were chosen Veeam Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) Growth Partner of the Year for 2016, 2017 and 2019. Two of our architects are longtime Veeam Vanguards.

OffsiteDataSync has a close relationship with Veeam, as we’ve been a Platinum partner for many years, well before they were the billion-dollar player they are today. We’re grateful to have the opportunity to grow alongside a company like Veeam and very much appreciate the recognition.

Which of these awards means the most to us? The latest achievement. Why? Same reason the last one was so important — it shows we’re committed to innovating. Fresh approaches are needed to ensure customer’s benefit from being on the forefront of Infrastructure (IaaS), Disaster Recovery (DRaaS) and Backup as a service (BaaS).

So, what’s the new service?

Later this year, we will launch AutoRecover, a service we developed using Veeam and vCloud Director to fully automate recovery to the cloud with a simple and secure integrated interface. With just a few clicks, AutoRecover can enable IT to recover any virtual machine (VM) to the cloud in minutes.

AutoRecover is a powerful solution for disaster recovery, testing, validation and compliance initiatives. Admins use the OffsiteDataSync portal to view their backup chains and then select the appropriate point and VMs to restore. They can then initiate the restore with just a single click.

Once activated, AutoRecover automatically:

  • Builds out a private vCloud director environment;
  • Imports backups; and
  • Initiates restore

When the process is complete, customers receive an email with information on connecting to their new environment. They then can access self-service recovery of their systems in OffsiteDataSync’s IaaS environment for easy and secure restore. If used for testing, AutoRecover will automatically tear down the environment once complete. Whether you’re testing DR to ensure you can recover or need to restore VMs immediately in the wake of a disaster, AutoRecover makes it simple, secure and fast.

Rust never sleeps and neither should we; every day in tech brings new challenges, threats and changes. So, we’ll be making AutoRecover available later this year to help you rest easier – stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, I’ll let the service speak for itself.
